The Rundown:
Grab your pens!
This is Write Bites. A community of writers who do a writing prompt together each week, no experience required. Bites go out on Saturday!

In preparation, block out 10-15min of your week to read the email and do the prompt. That can be Saturday morning with me, or any time that fits your schedule, but create a time and block it out. It’s sacred. And it’s just for your creativity. Protect it.
Drop a note in the comments when you’ve completed the prompt, both for a smidgen of accountability and community!

As my expertise is dramatic writing (stage and screen), the prompts may lean in that direction, but I will try to make sure they can be adapted to other mediums as well. If you’re ever looking for exercises geared towards a specific aspect of writing you’re struggling with, let me know via email or in the comments!

Each prompt, or “the weekly bite” is meant to kickstart your writing practice. You can use it as a bit of kindling or a warm-up to just get the creative juices flowing before you start your own work. You can also use it to get you to think creatively about a project you’re already working on, or you can just do the prompt for a little fun, creative time for yourself before you get back to your daily life.
The goal of this is to take the hustle culture out of writing and to remind us that a creative practice can be an act of self-care. Sometimes, writing just to write, free from constraints or deadlines, free from the reality of life or your job, can be the boost we need.
Along the way, I will try to vary the types of prompts. Some will be fun, some will be “helpful” in terms of craft, and some will push your boundaries to write outside your typical medium. If you’re nervous to just jump in without any “experience,” don’t be. That’s what this is for. And no one is checking your work (unless you want to share it). This time and experience is just for you. And if it’s a comfort, know that somewhere in the world, each week, I’m writing with you! I hope you’ll join me!
