Prompt #15

A Fork in the Road

I have decision paralysis, so let’s do a prompt about choices!!

In the medium of your choice, write about a character that is met with a fork in the road. They must make a difficult choice. No cop-outs. This can be interpreted as a literal fork in the road (what lies at the end of each path?) or simply a hard decision in the scenario of your choosing. In either version, communicate what is at stake, and how they come to a decision.

Set your timer for 10 minutes and write!

Extra credit: If you want to continue writing, write another piece set in the future after they make their choice. What ramifications does it cause? In Sliding Doors fashion, do they consider what “Would have been” if they had made a different choice?

Share this post to write with a friend!

I’m watching Who TF Did I Marry, Community, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a comfort watch.

I’m listening to A Slight Change Of Plans’ episode on The Art and Science of Gathering.

How did it go? Let me know in the comments! I plan to do some eavesdrop/overheard (insert city here) prompts, so keep your ears open for sentences that stick out to you. Eavesdrop! And write what you hear down! We’ll use it for an exercise soon.
