Prompt #22
florida!!!

To those of you who listen to one miss Taylor Swift, my condolences to your sleep schedule, I hope you use the weekend to recover from the onslaught of music we received this week. As a writer, I take a lot of inspiration from music, and an exercise I often return to is using whatever I’m listening to as a jumping-off point for a freewriting exercise, so that’s what we will do today!

First, pull out whatever device you use to listen to music. Play something random or an old favorite, whatever you like. Press play with the volume down first, or fast-forward to a random point in the song. The phrase or sentence that plays next is your prompt for today! Write in the medium of your choice.
If you don’t want to source from your own music or aren’t in a place where you can play something right now, I’ll share two quotes I used today to get you started.
“Baby, I’m a monster”
- ”Sheesh!” - Babymonster
or
No, I'm not, but you should see your faces”
From “But Daddy I Love Him” - Taylor Swift
Set your timer for 10 minutes and write!

I’m watching Boarders, a UK series streaming on Tubi in the US.
I’ve been reading about Tree Paine, who I am convinced runs the deep state, and A Darker Wilderness: Black Nature Writing from Soil to Stars edited by Erin Sharkey.
I’m listening to 31 new songs by Taylor Swift like I’m writing a frickin dissertation on her or something. And the new Talib Kweli & Madlib (ft. Mac Miller)

How did it go? Let me know in the comments!
