Prompt #50

Simple Moments

I recently (temporarily) moved to a new city and have been exploring little nooks and crannies on artist dates in my free time. Perhaps it’s because I’m an outsider, merely observing, but I've noticed so many simple moments between people that feel… perhaps the word is wholesome? I can’t quite describe it. So today’s prompt is a visual one, focusing on those type of moments. I chose images by my favorite photographer, a master of capturing simple domestic moments, Carrie Mae Weems.

Write a scene inspired by one of the photos below.

Set a timer and write for at least 10 minutes!

I’m watching The White Lotus S3 Finale

I’m reading two plays I love, John Proctor is the Villain by Kimberly Bellflower (on broadway now!) and English by Sanaz Toosi

I’m listening to… Djo’s new album (Joe Keery aka Steve from stranger things’s solo venture). Kind of if Talking Heads and Bowie and something more early aughts like Matt & Kim or Young the Giant had a baby?

Ps. I started a cute lil online community for writers! It’s free to join, so if you’re looking for accountability, community and support, come hang out with us on the internet.
